Janczarzy
W drugiej połowie XVII wieku janczarzy, ze względu na spadek wartości bojowej, byli już tylko cieniem dawnej legendy, ale wciąż stanowili trzon piechoty osmańskiej. Używali muszkietów skałkowych, które zwano potocznie janczarkami. Podstawową bronią janczarów była szabla, a ubrani byli w kolorowe, grube kaftany sukienne, szarawary i ciżmy. Choć w obronie byli skuteczniejsi niż w ataku, to ataki janczarów charakteryzowała duża gwałtowność i chęć dojścia do zwarcia na białą broń. Atakowali zazwyczaj w głębokich kolumnach, ale potrafili walczyć także w szyku rozproszonym.
